Child Center of Pennsylvania Honors Brian Houchins with Community Recognition Award
Mechanicsburg, PA – December 21, 2023
The Child Center of Pennsylvania is proud to announce Brian Houchins of Mechanicsburg because the recipient of the 2023 Community Recognition Award. This prestigious award is presented annually to a person who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to enhancing the lives of children in our neighborhood.
Brian Houchins, a devoted elementary college teacher and group volunteer, has been an unwavering advocate for children’s training and welfare. Over the previous ten years, his efforts have significantly impacted the lives of countless children in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas. Houchins’ initiatives include establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged students, weekend workshops focusing on literacy and numeracy expertise for at-risk youth, and leading a successful community-driven campaign to upgrade native playgrounds, guaranteeing protected and inclusive play spaces for all youngsters.
The award ceremony will be held on January 15, 2024, on the Mechanicsburg Community Center. The event will feature speeches from native dignitaries, a presentation about Houchins’ contributions, and the award presentation.
